Fisherboy

Here is Lockie with his catch - a trout weighing 538g and measuring 30cm! The biggest of all the trout caught by him and his friends this morning. The rain may have been pouring from dark skies but this did not deter our Lockie. He had a great time but now we have to work out how to gut the thing and cook it up...oh boy.

We spent the rest of the day hanging out at home, and later we popped over to see some friends for a wine and a catch-up before tea-time, [and a spot of Playstation for Lockie!].

P.S. I have now cooked the fish and it was very tasty - Bella and I sampled it happily but the boys wouldn't even taste it: 'we caught it, you eat it'.Posted by Picasa

Yum, fresh fish sounds great! Well done Lockie (and you).

thanks Jess. Today I made battered fishcakes with the remainder. Yummy with sweet chilli sauce and salad!

aha! I'm pleased you ate yours. We got home with our two (big boy caught a 458g, little 'un got a 374g), considered gutting them, but then realised that neither me nor my wife had any idea on how to achieve this (no doubt simple) feat.

So the cat had a very nice dinner.

We were in the same boat about the gutting, but it turned out to be really easy - just slice the belly open from throat to poo-hole and scoop out the insides. Rinse the blood off, put in things like herbs, butter, salt, etc and sprinkle same on top, then wrap in tinfoil parcel and bake at 200 degrees for about 20 mins. There, now you know for next time!! Lucky cat though.
